Sister Cities Garden Project at Riverfront Park!
The Sister Cities Association Garden Project is about connections within our Global Village and celebrating our Sister Cities!
The purpose of the Garden Project is:
- Raise awareness of our global connections – Spokane IS an international city
- Highlight and unite the cultures of Spokane and its Sister Cities (Nishinomiya, Japan; Jilin City, China; Limerick, Ireland: and Jecheon, Republic of Korea)
- Rehabilitate an underutilized portion of Riverfront Park (location of Japanese Pavilion during Expo ’74)
- Create a unique plaza setting for outdoor receptions for international guests
The Garden Project has the following goals:
- Showcase Spokane's four sister cities: Nishinomiya, Jecheon, Limerick, and Jilin
- Include interactive elements
- Attract new visitors and invite repeat visitors.
- Visually open garden to the larger park
